To the Thompsons it meant saying goodbye to the source of forty years of fond memories, seven hundred thirty-two close personal (four-legged) friends, and one hundred fifty acres of beautiful, seemingly endless backyard. To Rick Franz it meant an opportunity to help Jim and Bea through a difficult transition by finding a buyer who shared their love of the land. And once the deal closed, it meant that Jim and Bea were free to explore even greater open spaces in their new RV.

It takes strong family support to stay focused, balanced and successful. I've been together with my wife, Vie, since 1980. She has had an extremely successful and influential career in the fashion industry and is currently active with International Smile Power Foundation, Washington Women in Need, in addition to the new Performing Arts Center Eastside in Bellevue. The other member in our family is "Fairbanks" an active golden retriever who adds great joy to the household. As a past chef and restauranteur I love to spend free time exploring the wonderful world of food and all that is associated with it. We have a home in Hawaii and are happy to escape whenever time allows.
